Family Debt
About This Game
"Family Debt" is a single-player 2D isometric survival game with economic and narrative elements. The core concept explores human survival under constant financial and psychological distress.
Players take on the role of a young man forced into an independent adult life following his mother's sudden death in a tragic car accident. To make matters worse, criminal thugs confront him, demanding he repay a massive debt left behind by his late father.
Core Gameplay:
- Time Management: The game operates on a day-to-day cycle. Every 7 days, a mandatory payment quota must be delivered to the criminals. Missing a deadline leads to a game over.
- Resource & Stat Management: Monitor and maintain vital attributes including Health, Energy, Mood, and Hunger. If hunger drops below a critical point, you lose.
- Economy & Survival: Work at various jobs to earn cash, prioritize spending between purchasing food, paying off the debt, or upgrading your living conditions.
- Home Improvement & Perk Systems: Invest in furniture upgrades (bed, fridge, computer) to gain passive recovery bonuses , and choose permanent perks to customize your survival strategy.
- Random Events & Dilemmas: Face unpredictable real-life choices that force you to weigh financial stability against your own physical and mental well-being.
Ultimately, paying off the final quota uncovers a dark truth about the protagonist's family, forcing a moral choice that leads to one of two tragic or accepting endings.
